A little embarrassed.
I love this place and I need to stop ordering delivery here because I do it so often it's starting to get embarrassing! It's fresh and I've actually never been in the restaurant. I just stumbled upon it in menupages when we were looking for delivery capable sushi and I lucked out! Their veggies are also very fresh and everything just seems perfect all the time... I hope it can keep going this way!

neighbourhood gem
This place is fantastic! I live just around the corner, eat here at least once a week and wouldn't go anywhere else for sushi. The fish is very fresh and they have great specials - superb quality toro, scallop, raw shrimp and other interesting fish. Portions are very generous and they don't skimp on the good expensive fish on the sushi and sashimi platters. Huge selection of rolls. Service is attentive and personal, value for money is excellent. The kind of place every neighbourhood should have.

Hands down best in the Village
Sushi Yawa opened on my block a while ago, but I was coming out of an extreme sushi phase and had eaten sushi every day for about forty days, and I just didn't really feel like eating sushi again until about a month ago. Now I'm back on a sushi kick and I couldn't be happier that this place is across the street. I mostly order in, and I've had sushi from pretty much every place. Plus I go out once in a while around here and at some of the "nicer" places in Midtown when my dad's in town; and I've had some great sushi, but I can't remember ever having anything quite this great. It is consistently delicious and perfectly prepared. It's such a treat not having to pick rice off my sushi--I can actually enjoy my rainbow roll in one piece, and let me tell you it tastes so good. I've never eaten a bite of anything from here that was less than awesome. The delivery men are friendly too. There have been about 10 restaurant closings on two blocks of 8th Street in the past year; not even the incredible Pio Maya was spared. Please do this poor block a favor and help keep Sushi Yawa here. You'll be glad you did!

excellent neighborhood addition
Well-priced, fresh and delicious. We love sushi yawa!!! Better for delivery than to eat-in due to loud, early 2000's trance music playing the three times we've gone to sit down. Food is amazing.

Great atmosphere and more than just sushi!
I will definitely be going back here. Great atmosphere with exposed brick walls and low lighting, very clean, modern space. The menu is huge and is great for anyone in your party that doesn't like sushi. Also has a full bar with cool cocktail list. Perfect for a girls night or a date. Service was excellent.

i have been coming here for a little over a year since it opened and the place just keeps getting better. the sushi is fresh and the menu is extensive for non-sushi types as well. dharma is a gracious host and the staff provides excellent service. also, the place now has a liquor license so there is a full bar complete with smokin' hot bartendress. definitely stop in.
